Description

I design and customize each staff development training to provide your school personnel with strategies that make a positive difference to your learners with challenges. Early in my career path, the fates directed me both personally and professionally to work with learners who had life difficulties. Parenthood presented me with a well-rounded education vis a vie ADHD. For almost thirty years, I have been training school personnel as a workshop provider and as an on-site educational consultant/coach to address the needs of students who face challenges such as Adverse Childhood Experiences and childhood trauma, ADHD, Anxiety and other Stress Related Disorders. I also provide training in suicide prevention and serve as a suicide prevention program director and trainer for a county grant.

My staff development work has always  centered around this key question: What will make a positive difference? In all my trainings and writings expect to find neuroscience-based strategies that promote wellness, build resilience, and train coping skills to get through tough times. Also expect to find practical strategies to address the unique academic and behavioral performance problems of learners with special needs.

I am the author of numerous books and articles on ADHD, including the best seller: Maybe You Know My Kid. Since writing that book, originally published in 1990, I have trained more than 10,000 educators and almost as many parents on how to help children with ADHD,  social, emotional, and behavioral  problems. My articles on working with trauma and students with behavioral challenges have appeared in ASCD Express and Smart Brief. When Superstorm Sandy slammed the New Jersey shoreline, I worked as a crisis counselor to help people get on their feet again.

If you are looking for a no-nonsense presenter who gets to the heart of challenges with practical strategies, sense and sensitivity, and a touch of wit, please contact me.  We can design a workshop to fit your staff’s needs.
