Description

My name is Jared Fishman, and I serve two roles in my professional life- one, as a history teacher at the Brunswick School in Greenwich, Connecticut, and two, as a facilitator of game based learning strategies.  I’ve worked in education since 2004, and in the independent school world since 2007.  My specialization is using game based models, such as simulations, roleplaying, and other types of games to make education and skill building more engaging, fun, and immersive.  I’ve run seminars, workshops and conferences on this subject, many of them through NYSAIS during my time at Hackley.  They are usually geared to teachers who want to spice up their curriculum with some fun strategies that will keep the students motivated and learning at the same time, beyond the traditional goal of earning a “good grade”.  I’ve also run or facilitated gaming events at colleges and universities, libraries, and community centers to bring more awareness to the ways in which roleplaying games like Dungeon and Dragons can build and cultivate more inclusive environments.
