Description
Strategies to Nurture Self-Discipline, Motivation, and Resilience in the Classroom: A Teacher Workshop with Dr. Robert Brooks at The Children’s School
The Children’s School is honored to have renowned psychologist Robert Brooks, Ph.D, give a workshop for teachers on Wednesday, November 6, at 4 p.m. CAIS educators are invited to join this workshop, the first in a series that TCS has organized on topics relevant to teachers of primary and pre-primary children.
What is a caring approach to help young children develop into curious, engaged, and motivated students? Dr. Brooks will describe a positive, resilience-based approach that focuses on a child’s strengths as well as on building a respectful and problem-solving environment in the classroom. He will share research-tested strategies for nurturing each student’s self-control, self-reliance, and self-confidence—all-important attributes for academic success.
There will a lifetime of wisdom and experience packed into this workshop! Dr. Brooks is a distinguished clinical psychologist on the faculty of Harvard Medical School and the author or coauthor of 22 books, many of which focus on resilience across the lifespan. As a speaker, he is known not only for his respect for the dignity of children but also for the warmth and humor he uses to bring his insights to life.
