Join us for an interactive and thought-provoking workshop that focuses on the advisor’s role in an independent school. Whether you oversee an advisory program or are just looking for strategies to improve your own advising, this workshop is for you!

The agenda includes a focus on:

  • the teen brain, the significance of identity development, and why this all matters
  • door openers for effective communication and relationship building (reflective listening, active listening, open vs. closed questioning)
  • strategies to increase change talk
  • the independent school parent and ways to engage them
  • building your emotional first aid kit so you feel better prepared to handle common adolescent mental health concerns

 

Andree Palmgren earned her Ed.M. and M.A. in Psychological Counseling from Teachers College, Columbia University. She is a licensed professional counselor with a private practice in Westport, CT where she specializes in working with adolescents, young adults and parents. Prior to opening her private practice, Andree spent 18+ years working at an independent school in Greenwich, CT as a teacher, advisor, middle school counselor and director of their associate teachers’ program.
